Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Gedeb Honey bursts with vibrant energy and a silky, full-bodied mouthfeel, unfolding into a beautifully fruit-forward cup. Lively notes of tart cranberry and juicy pomegranate lead the experience, followed by a ripe plum sweetness that lingers on the palate. The honey process in Gedeb is one of Tracon’s most celebrated offerings from the 2025 harvest. Fresh cherries arriving at the station are immediately pulped and spread in thin layers on African drying beds to prevent any mold formation. As moisture levels drop, shade is introduced to slow the drying process, allowing deeper, more complex flavors to develop.

This coffee hails from the Yirgacheffe Werka Chelchele Station, one of Tracon’s largest and most renowned washing stations in Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone—a region famed for its high-altitude heirloom varieties. Over 705 local farmers deliver cherries daily, either directly or through trusted middlemen.

Yirgacheffe Werka Chelchele Station

Yirgacheffe Werka Chelchele Station is one of Tracon’s largest and most important washing stations, serving as a central hub for coffee production in the region. More than 705 local farmers deliver fresh cherries to the station each day, either directly or through trusted middlemen. In Yirgacheffe, coffee farms are often described as “Garden Coffee”—grown in small backyard plots where farmers carefully tend a few trees alongside other crops.

The majority of production consists of Ethiopian Heirloom varieties, complemented by select plantings of JARC 74110 and JARC 74112, contributing both resilience and complexity to the cup.

Thanks to the station’s scale and the abundant cherry supply from surrounding farms, Tracon’s Chelchele Station is able to process coffees using washed, natural, and experimental fermentation methods, allowing for a diverse range of flavor expressions from the same remarkable terroir.
