Klatch brings you another award-wining coffee blend of the Best of Cauca, this blend is faithful to the traditional washed profile associated with Colombia: think chocolate, medium acidity, creamy full body. Our cupping notes of lime, apricot and chocolate.
The 9th “Best of Cauca” coffee competition was held with 23 coffee lots and 2 micro-lots called Village Lot and Reserve Lot. These coffee lots were chosen from a selection of more than 100 lots from the Tierradentro region, after earning a cupping score above 86.5 points.
Organized by the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation through the Committee of Coffee Growers of Cauca and Craft Coffee, in partnership with the cooperative farmer organizations Cafinorte, Caficauca. This competition is supported by the Producers to Markets Alliance of the United States Agency for International Development.
The region of Tierradentro is a Colombian indigenous enclave, featuring the municipalities of Inzá and Belalcázar, located in the department of Cauca in southern Colombia. This territory is one of the most important archaeological reserves in Colombia and declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, to help ensure that the preservation and protection of indigenous, pre-Colombian culture is secure.
Tierradentro has unique microclimates with the elements of the cooler temperatures of the mountains and the warm winds coming from the Valle de Cauca river. Coffee from this region is characterized by its intense aromatic attributes with a medium to high acidity, a smooth and syrupy body, and a sweet and balanced flavor profile.
