August 2026: Club Coffee Selections that Shine

As summer continues, August is the perfect time to slow down, explore something new, and enjoy a great cup of coffee. Whether your ideal morning starts with a rich espresso, a vibrant single origin, or a dependable blend, this month’s Klatch Coffee Club selections offer three distinctly different ways to experience coffee.

Each month, our team selects a new coffee for our Espresso, Single Origin, and Blend Clubs, giving subscribers the opportunity to discover coffees they may not have otherwise chosen for themselves. It’s an easy way to keep your coffee routine fresh while exploring the range of flavors, origins, and roasting styles that make specialty coffee so exciting.

For August, we’re featuring Belle Espresso, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Supernatural, and Breakfast Blend, three coffees that showcase very different sides of the Klatch lineup.

What Is a Klatch Coffee Club Subscription?

Klatch Coffee Club subscriptions are rotating monthly subscriptions organized by coffee style. Each month, our team selects a different coffee for each club, so you can explore new favorites without having to decide what to order every time.

Choose from the Barista’s Choice Espresso Club, Brewer’s Choice Single Origin Club, or Roaster’s Choice Blends Club, and we’ll send you the featured coffee associated with your club. Subscriptions can be scheduled weekly, every two weeks, every three weeks, or monthly. If multiple orders fall within the same month, they will feature the same coffee of the month. Club orders also include free shipping within the continental U.S., regardless of order size.

August 2026 Barista’s Choice Espresso: Belle Espresso

For August, our Barista’s Choice Espresso Club is featuring Belle Espresso, one of Klatch’s longtime favorites and a coffee that has earned a reputation for being particularly well suited to espresso and milk-based drinks.

Belle Espresso is defined by notes of blackberry, chocolate, and brandy. It has a creamy body and sweet finish, with additional layers of orange citrus and spice. The combination creates an espresso that is rich and decadent without losing the complexity that makes it enjoyable on its own.

Belle is also one of Klatch’s most highly regarded espresso blends. In 2006, Coffee Review awarded it 94 points, making it Klatch’s highest-rated espresso blend. After evaluating more than 30 espresso blends, Coffee Review’s Ken Davids placed Belle at the top, highlighting its smooth mouthfeel, caramel-like sweetness, and distinctive brandy and chocolate character.

While it makes a satisfying straight shot, its creamy body and sweetness allow it to stand up beautifully to milk. A latte or cappuccino brings out the chocolate and caramel-like qualities, while the fruit and spice notes add another layer of complexity.

Belle is roasted at a medium-dark level and uses naturally processed coffees. Its profile is designed around a smooth, balanced mouthfeel, making it an approachable espresso whether you are dialing in your first home machine or are already accustomed to working with specialty espresso.

  • Dose: 20 g

August 2026 Brewer’s Choice Single Origin: Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Supernatural

For our Brewer’s Choice Single Origin Club, August brings something particularly expressive: Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Supernatural.

This new-crop coffee comes from the Yirgacheffe Werka Chelchele Station in Ethiopia, where coffee is produced by smallholder farmers. The coffee is an heirloom varietal and undergoes a natural process. In the cup, it brings together notes of berries, rose, and milk chocolate, with a syrupy body and layers of wild blueberry, strawberry, cranberry, and delicate florals.

Part of the character of this coffee comes from its distinctive processing method.

After harvest, the coffee cherries are placed on African drying beds just 8–12 hours after picking. They first dry under shade for three days before spending another 19 days drying in the sun. This extended, carefully managed drying process helps preserve and amplify the fruit characteristics of the coffee while maintaining quality throughout the process.

Processing can have an enormous impact on how a coffee tastes. With natural processing, the coffee cherry remains around the seed as the coffee dries, allowing the developing coffee to take on additional fruit-driven characteristics. In the case of this Supernatural coffee, the result is a cup with pronounced berry flavors, floral aromatics, and a silky sweetness.

It is also a great reminder that coffee flavor isn't determined by origin alone. Two coffees from the same country can taste dramatically different depending on varietal, growing environment, processing, and roasting.

While this coffee is versatile enough to enjoy as espresso, we especially recommend exploring it through a pour over or other manual brewing method. Slower brewing gives you an opportunity to experience the coffee's changing layers as it cools.

The coffee can even be prepared as espresso, where the profile shifts toward strawberry jam, hibiscus, and apricot. Klatch’s espresso starting recipe is 19.5 g of coffee, 38 g out, at 204°F, with a total extraction time of about 28 seconds including a three-second pre-infusion.

For a traditional filter brew, however, pay attention to how the flavors evolve from the first sip to the last. You may notice bright berry characteristics when the coffee is hot, followed by floral notes and a sweeter, more chocolate-like finish as it cools.

  • 1:14.5 ratio
  • 24.5g coffee ground medium coarsely
  • 360g water at 204°F
  • 3:30 total brew time
  • a more detailed brewer such as an April Brewer or a Kalita Brewer

Recipe:

  1. Start with a 60g pour to bloom your coffee.
  2. Wait 30 seconds before your next pour.
  3. Continue to pour in 60g increments every 20 seconds or so - don’t overfill your filter, but don’t let the grounds completely dry before your next pour, either!
  4. Once you’ve poured all 360g of water, wait for the grounds to dry and the water to finish dripping into your carafe.
  5. Enjoy!

August 2026 Roaster’s Choice Blend: Breakfast Blend

Rounding out August’s Coffee Club selections is Breakfast Blend, a classic Klatch coffee designed to be approachable, balanced, and easy to enjoy every day.

Breakfast Blend features notes of floral, pear, and apple, with a sweet, chocolatey aroma and a balanced combination of fruit and florals. The blend brings together Central American and African coffees, creating a cup that is bright and expressive while maintaining the smoothness and balance you want from an everyday coffee.

Breakfast Blend is a medium roast with a washed process and a smooth, balanced mouthfeel. It is exactly the sort of coffee that can become a dependable part of your morning routine while still giving you enough flavor complexity to keep every cup interesting.

And despite the name, you don't have to drink it only in the morning.

Breakfast Blend also has a little history behind it. Coffee Review awarded the coffee 90 points in July 2006, recognizing its sweet floral and chocolate-toned aroma, bright acidity, silky body, and notes of floral, apple, and pear.

For a pourover, we recommend the following:

  5. Enjoy!

For cold brew, we recommend a one part coffee, five parts water ratio.

Grind your coffee as coarsely as possible, and steep in cold water for 12-24 hours. The longer you steep, the stronger the coffee will be. If possible, use a toddy filter for your grinds. If not, strain them out once your cold brew is done brewing with a cheese cloth, or even a Chemex or pourover filter!

Whether you're already a dedicated coffee enthusiast or simply looking for something new to brew at home, August's Coffee Club selections offer plenty to explore. That is ultimately what the Klatch Coffee Club is about: taking some of the guesswork out of discovering coffee. Every month brings a new opportunity to taste something different, learn more about what you enjoy, and perhaps find a new favorite along the way.
