What is the Klatch Coffee Bru Bar?

At Klatch Coffee, we're always looking for ways to help our guests experience coffee at its very best. While espresso drinks and handcrafted beverages are often what first bring people through our doors, our Bru Bar offers an entirely different way to explore specialty coffee, one cup at a time.

Each month, we select a few of our favorites coffees to feature on our Bru Bar menu. These rotating offerings allow us to showcase unique origins, processing methods, and flavor profiles that highlight the diversity found in coffee. In some cases, it can even make rare varietals such as Geisha coffees more accessible! Whether you're a longtime coffee enthusiast or trying your first pour over, the Bru Bar is designed to make discovering new coffees approachable and easy. We’ll do all the work for you, so you can just enjoy.

When do we switch?

Our Bru Bar menu changes monthly, giving our team the opportunity to highlight coffees that are fresh, seasonal, and representative of the hard work and effort being put into each one of our coffees, not just by our baristas, by also by our roasters, our QC, our production team, and our producer partners around the world.

At our standalone Klatch Coffee cafes, you'll typically find three featured coffees available on the Bru Bar. These selections often include a balance of washed, natural, honey, or experimental processing methods, and will usually also feature coffees from different origins or that are different varietals. We do this so guests have the opportunity to try different things and compare how different growing regions and processing techniques can affect flavor.

At our Klatch Coffee cafes located inside Sprouts Farmers Markets, we feature two Bru Bar coffees instead. While the selection is slightly smaller, the same care and attention goes into choosing the coffees. Additionally, at our locations inside of Sprouts Farmers Markets, you’re more likely to find at least one Organic option as well, to stay aligned with the stores values and emphasis on better living.

No matter which location you visit, though, our goal is the same: to introduce guests to coffees they may not have tried otherwise, to showcase the craftsmanship that goes into every roast and every bean, and to enjoy great coffee together.

What’s different about a pour over?

Unlike many traditional batch brewing methods, pour over brewing is designed to bring out the individual characteristics of each coffee.

Coffee is subjective, and each coffee is different. In fact, the same exact coffee varietal from the same exact lot on the same exact farm may even taste different from harvest to harvest. Factors such as origin, elevation, processing method, and roast profile all contribute to how the coffee in your cup tastes, and differing climates and terroirs can make a big impact. A carefully prepared pour over allows those unique qualities to really shine.

You may notice vibrant fruit notes, delicate floral aromas, rich chocolate sweetness, or bright citrus acidity that might be less pronounced in other brewing methods. Because each coffee is brewed individually, every cup is prepared specifically for you, resulting in a clean, flavorful experience that highlights the work of everyone involved—from the farmers who grew the coffee to the roasters who developed its profile.

How do you stay efficient when making pour overs?

At our standalone Klatch Coffee cafes, every Bru Bar coffee is brewed using our Poursteady automated pour over system. While traditional hand-poured coffee relies entirely on the barista's technique and prevents your barista from working on anything else during the 4-5 minutes it takes to complete, these Poursteady machines combine the artistry of a pour over with precision engineering. The machine carefully controls water temperature, flow rate, pouring pattern, and timing to produce a consistent cup every single time.

Even small differences in what we call the three T’s—time, temperature, and turbulence—can affect how the coffee tastes, so consistency is truly key. Pouring speed or water distribution can change how a coffee extracts, affecting balance, sweetness, and clarity. By automating these variables, Poursteady allows us to serve each coffee exactly as our producer partners and our team intended.

One of the best parts of the experience is also simply watching it work! Guests can see the brewing process unfold as the machine precisely pours water over freshly ground coffee in carefully controlled spirals. It's both fascinating and educational, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the precision that goes into brewing specialty coffee.

Though the process has been innovated and improved with automations, our baristas are still very much an integral part of the process. They select the coffee, grind it fresh, prepare the brewer, and ensure every cup meets our standards before serving it. The technology simply helps deliver remarkable consistency and saves time, while allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the brewing process.

I don’t see the Poursteady machines at your Sprouts Farmers Market locations?

Inside our Sprouts Farmers Market cafes, space is naturally more limited, but our commitment to quality remains exactly the same.

For these locations, we brew our Bru Bar coffees using Curtis Gold Cup Brewers instead. Just like Poursteady machines, this brewer is highly reputable, as Curtis equipment is trusted throughout the specialty coffee industry for its ability to produce exceptionally consistent coffee while fitting efficiently into smaller spaces.

Like the Poursteady system, Curtis Gold Cup Brewers are designed around precision. They carefully regulate brewing temperature, water volume, contact time, and extraction to ensure every brew meets the same high standards. This brewing method allows our locations with less counter space to serve outstanding specialty coffee while making the most of the available space. The result is a consistently delicious cup that showcases the unique flavor characteristics of each featured coffee, just like the ones brewed with the Poursteadys.

Whether you're visiting one of our standalone cafes or grabbing coffee while shopping at Sprouts, you can expect the same dedication to quality and consistency in every cup.

Discovering a new coffee each month

One of the most exciting parts of the Bru Bar is that it's always changing. As new coffees arrive throughout the year, our team selects exciting offerings to feature on the monthly menu. You may discover a vibrant Ethiopian natural one month, followed by a washed Colombian or an innovative anaerobic processed coffee the next.

This rotating lineup gives guests an opportunity to expand their coffee palate without committing to an entire bag of beans first. If you find a favorite, our baristas are always happy to help you learn more about the coffee and recommend brewing methods for enjoying it at home.

So, where and how can I try it?

Ultimately, our Bru Bar represents what specialty coffee is all about: curiosity, craftsmanship, and connection.

Every featured coffee has a story—from the farm where it was grown, to the producer who carefully processed it, to the roaster who developed its profile, and finally the brewer who prepares it for you. Our Bru Bar brings those stories to life through thoughtfully selected coffees and carefully controlled brewing methods that allow each one to shine. Whether you're exploring tasting notes for the first time, comparing processing methods, or simply looking for an enjoyable cup of coffee, the Bru Bar is one of the best ways to experience everything that makes specialty coffee so remarkable.
